Guide lines for the contest «New Technologies in 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring»

Aims and tasks of the contest

One of the main aims of the event will be further promotion and perfection of the 24-hour ABPM-using technologies, support of scientists, doctors, and post-graduates. During the contest we expect to obtain bright scientific and practical results and lay the basis of new medical technologies and new scientific trends.


Main directions of the contest

1. New approaches to making the monitoring and further data interpretation;
2. New spheres of 24-hour ABPM method application;
3. New approaches to using the 24-hour ABPM in diagnostic and estimation of treatment efficiency.


General guide-lines

All support of the research projects is performed on competitive basis without reference to age, academic title and position of the applicants.
Each applicant can take part at several contest directions at the same time.
The main condition for supporting the participants is their obligation to make the research results to the public domain, and obligatory publish them in the medical periodicals. By publishing the research work, supported within the limits of the present contest, it is to mention this support in the article.
The executors should use the distributed equipment mainly for the purposes stated in the application.

Pendency of applications and choosing the winners. Contest Committee

For pendency of applications Petr Telegin Ltd. forms the Contest Committee. The Contest Committee will consist of the leading medical scientists and representatives of the educational institutions. The Contest Committee acts in the frames of Contest Committee Statuses. Members of the Contest Committee perform the expert examination of the projects according to their professional profile. Expert examination paper is provided for each project.

Expert examination

All applications, which are allowed to take part at the contest, must pass the independent expert examination. All the information about the content of the applied projects and the expert examination proceeding is confidential. The experts are not allowed to disclose this information. The Contest Committee provides the applicants with the reasons of declination neither orally nor as a review.
While applying for participation in the contest the applicant sets the duration of the project (1, 2 or 3 years), this period can be prolonged. The decision about further support of each project for the next year is made by the Contest Committee on basis of annual reports. The compulsory condition of taking part at the Contest is punctual assignment of annual and final reports (also for the early termination of the project). In the case of negative conclusion of the Contest Committee the project can loose the support.
According to the agreement the executors, who does not assign the report till the deadline or assigns a the low-quality report must return the given equipment and not participate in the contest for three years.

The Contest Committee informs the executors about:
- receiving the project data and starting its examination;
- results of the Contest.


Execution of an application

For participating in the Contest an applicant should assign the following documents:
1. Application form (Appendix 1);
2. Project design (Appendix 2).
Both forms should be executed in accordance to the requirements stated in the appendixes. The papers must be e-mailed to nauka-concurs@mail.ru and sent in written form with the applicant’s signature to: 603950, 37, Gagarin avenue, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.



Stages of the Contest

Receiving of the applications till 30.07.2009
Expert examination and choosing the winners of the first stagetill 30.08.2009
Assignment of the first annual reportstill 30.09.2010
The applications for the next year will be received till 30.07.2010.

Expert examination of applications and reports

While applying for participation the applicants set the terms of their project (1-3 years). The participants should assign annual reports for experts to prove, whether the study is carried out into appropriate direction. On basis of these reports the Contest Committee decides whether the study can be prolonged for the more than 3 years. In the case of preschedule termination of the projects, the winners will be chosen after the end of the Contest.


Forms of support

- Grants for research projects in accordance to the results of the Contest
The winners of the first stage will be granted the 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors BPLab for realizing their projects. If the project will be terminated successfully, the equipment will be kept by the winners. The equipment will be provided on the contract basis.
- Prizes for the winners
According to the results of the Contest three best projects will be chosen independently from the scientific branch:
1. The First Prize – prize money
2. The Second and the Third Prize – Petr Telegin Ltd. grants the participation in the ESC Congress. These prizes will be awarded up to the opinion of the Contest Committee.

Petr Telegin Ltd. is authorized to publish the projects on the web-sit http://www.bplab.com, other Internet pages and recommend the projects for being issued in medical periodicals.
